Hurricane Food Drive- Update:
It all started with an idea. Doug Pratt, organizer of the HOP’s Hurricane Group envisioned a fun tournament for his group that would also be a fundraiser and food drive to benefit the less fortunate in our area. Word of the Hurricane Food Drive/Fundraiser spread throughout the HOP and by the middle of December, a whopping $2,930.00 was raised along with 20 bags of non-perishable groceries!
The fundraiser recipients, Jessica and her four kids, ages 3, 7, 12 & 13 were overwhelmed by your generosity and said that without your unexpected kindness, they would not have had a Christmas. They wanted you to know your thoughtfulness was whole-heartedly appreciated and will be long cherished.
$1,500.00 of the funds raised were used for car payments. The remainder of the money purchased warm clothing, winter coats, bike helmets, skateboards, a tricycle, Nintendo Switch and other toys for the four kids. Jessica received a gift certificate for Head to Toe Day Spa.
Thank you, HOP members, for joining in to turn Doug's idea into an amazing effort, one that made a difference in a family's life. This is just one more example of how awesome our HOP community is! Because of you, our HOUSE is so, so much more than just a place to play pickleball.
